ON WHITE HORSES
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Who knows what the next couple of months will bring. But in this world of uncertainty it’s lovely to create these magical pictures. We shot them way back in the Summer in The Cotswolds and were lucky enough to have them published in Mini Maven this Christmas. The styling and inspiration came from a TV programme, ‘The White Horses’ I loved to watch as a child. Yes, I’m feeling positive – it’s difficult not to, when I work with so many gorgeous and talented people. So, bring on 2019!

ROSE COLOURED SPECTACLE
Wow! It’s September – how did that happen? It’s very difficult to say goodbye to Summer this year. It’s been amazing and the sun has just kept on giving. One of the highlights of these hot, balmy days was doing this shoot in the majestic grounds of Littlecote House in the West Country.
We were thinking pink! So, when I turned up at the spectacular gardens, my car laden with party dresses and tutus, our hairdresser, Jess already had pink hair spray in hand and fab make-up artist Kamila was poised with beautiful rose petals for face decoration. Our three little pink ladies had such fun dressing up in all the gorgeous frothy clothes. Photographer Tara worked her magic and these beautiful images were published in Luna Magazine.

ROCKABILLY KIDS

I was thrilled to style the new sunglasses campaign for Zoobug London. It’s a great brand, founded in 2006 by Dr Julie Diem and the first specialist eyewear company for kids. Not only do these sunglasses provide maximum protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays, but as you can see they are also super stylish too!
The theme ‘The Camden Rockabillies’ was perfect for Zoobug’s SS18 sunglasses collection with hip metal frames, small lenses and edgy mirrors – such a fabulous retro look.
We all had a blast, zooming around Camden on this shoot. The kids loved wearing the sunglasses and really got into the cool rockabilly style. They all looked amazing in their ‘rock and roll’ leather jackets, ripped jeans and swirly tutus. Great fun…….. can’t wait to meet up with the Zoobug gang again!

BIRDS OF PREY
They say never work with animals or children – well, I always enjoy a challenge! We met early one rainy morning in November at Savernake Forest near Marlborough. I had already had a 2-hour journey, it was raining and quite honestly, I wasn’t feeling massively positive whilst waiting for the arrival of 3 child models under nine, plus a whole flock of birds of prey – owls, kestrels et al.
But I must say, once we got going everyone was marvellous. The kids were all so brave holding the birds, helped enormously by the amazing Dian from the Fir Tree Falconry and our lovely calming photographer Tara. Our make-up artist, Emily did a fabulous job painting a feathered look on each of the children’s face. I used loads of beautiful plumage in the styling with spectacular feather headdresses and capes. In the end, it was a soaring success with Little Revolution Magazine using all the pictures in their Christmas issue. What a great team – such high fliers!

THE CROWN
When Lovely photographer, Katy McDonnell came up with the idea of shooting at the very majestic location, Kings Weston House in Bristol, we couldn’t resist doing our own ‘kids’ take of the stylish TV drama, The Crown. So much fun was had casting our own royal family, choosing regal props and creating vintage hairstyles. We were thrilled that Babiekins Magazine published the pictures in their Christmas issue – Yay! I think the traditional styling is just perfect for Yuletide …..

BABY FASHION – DOUBLE ACT
Twins are big news! Both Beyoncé and Amal Clooney are expecting them – joining the ever-growing Hollywood twin club whose ‘members’ include Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mariah Carey and Julia Roberts. Goodness, it seems everyone’s at it!
So, it wasn’t a surprise that Baby London Magazine wanted to do a twin fashion feature. I must admit I felt slightly daunted styling 5 sets of twins in one day. Was the shoot going to be twice as nice or double trouble? Luckily, we were in safe hands, our photographer Ken Copsey is one of the maestros of baby shoots and all our little duos were gorgeous, so a fun day was had by all – phew!

GIRL POWER !

Fantastic to see Marks & Spencer are doing a brand new activewear collection for girls. So as you can imagine, I was really excited to style this shoot for them. It’s a fabulous range for 5-14 year olds with vibrant geometric print vests, dip-dye leggings and slogan tops. All the sportswear pieces are made from an ultra-light elastane blend that sits close to the skin and helps regulate the body temperature. I think the fitnesswear looks amazing and the little models on the shoot really enjoyed wearing it. What a great incentive for kids to keep fit, active and healthy.

KIDS FASHION – EN POINTE

Our beautiful ballet story was dreamt up in a coffee shop in Soho. Whilst idly chatting over a cappuccino about all sorts of things, from our children’s dance shows, to enthusing about Sia’s video for song ‘Chandelier’ and the fabulous sheer organza fashion in the latest issue of Vogue, photographer Helen Marsden and myself realised we’d come up with a rather lovely theme for a kid’s shoot. A sort of mad Swan Lake at home.
Like many girls, I’ve always loved ballet and took lessons from aged 2 until I was a teenager. But felt this shoot shouldn’t be exclusively girly. Things have dramatically changed since I was little when it was seen as quite extraordinary for boys to do ballet. My Father was bemused when my brother Jonathan pleaded to do classes. His reaction was very similar to the Dad in Billy Elliot – “No son of mine is going to be a bloody ballet dancer!”
Luckily opinions are so different now. Premier league footballers, front-row rugby players even heavy weight boxers are all at it. It’s an amazing discipline for core strength, agility and flexibility. The boys in our shoot were as proud of their fabulous barre work as we were of them!
There was a flurry of excitement at the shoot. The children loved dressing up in tutus, feather headdresses and wings. They had such fun, leaping and pirouetting over the furniture in Helen’s beautiful house. I’m thrilled with the pics as were Little London Magazine who used the story in this month’s issue. What lovely team work – Bravo us! We should all take a bow.

KIDS FASHION – LONDON CALLING

I love London and obviously love fashion, so styling this kids photo shoot was perfect for me. These striking images for glossy magazine, Little London were shot in two phases. Firstly, talented kids’ photographer, Daniel Pangbourne ‘set the scene’ shooting the background photos. He really put in some leg work here, zooming around London shooting the most iconic buildings from The Albert Hall in Kensington to The Shard in London Bridge. Luckily, a fabulously sunny day was chosen where the sky was vibrant blue – a rarity in London Town!
A couple of weeks later we did the kids photo shoot in The Factory Studio, South London. The models, photographer Daniel and lovely hair & make-up artist, Rose met up at the studio bright and early. As per usual my car was groaning under the strain of so many amazing clothes by designers such as Stella McCartney, Stone Island and Bonpoint. We had a very busy day. The kids were fantastic – running, leaping and jumping around the studio against a white backdrop. What energy!
After these two shoots, the images were digitally combined to produce theses stunning images. So here you have it – CAPITAL FASHION!
