LOCKDOWN LUXE
Even though lockdown is now easing, so many of us are still working from home. I don’t know about you, but the comfy, baggy, tracky bottoms and slouchy tops have long lost their appeal. Being a stylist, I felt I had to up my game if I wasn’t going to look lockdown loco! I still wanted something comfortable to wear, but needed to look more stylish for Zoom chats and greeting the postman in the morning!
So, I was really thrilled when Femme Luxe approached me about doing a collab with their lovely loungewear. I really like their streamline belted tunic and legging sets. They’re very flattering and cleverly concealed how much banana bread I’ve consumed over lockdown! I’ve never done a collab before so was excited to give it a go. I really enjoyed the whole experience, although I must say it was very weird being the other side of the camera. This influencing game is much more challenging than it looks. It’s like a multi-tasking test extraordinaire – being the model, make-up artist, hairdresser, stylist and art director whilst continually beaming like the brightest lighthouse at the camera. Thanks to Team Elgood – my hubster and daughter Lily who were remarkably patient on the shoot taking turns humouring me and snapping away on their iPhones. It’s amazing what my family will do for a takeaway curry and a couple of beers!

I always feel happiest in a maxi dress and with all the Victoriana long dresses around this Autumn, we thought we’d shoot our own 2019 version of Cathy in Wuthering Heights.
The team all piled into my car one Thursday morning in August and headed for Hitchin Lavender Fields. I’d already done a shoot here using all shades of purple clothes in the lavender fields, so this time we used the rougher terrain there to achieve our windswept romantic look…….

NEON has emblazoned so many runways this Spring. In these precarious times, it’s great to get some heart sizzling colour in our lives! So, one cold Saturday morning in February, we met up at Lesley’s studio and created this. I love the movement, angles and the fantastic make-up by Keti that really completed the super bold look!

I love all the gorgeous geometric prints around at the moment. So,we decided to do a shoot using these fab shape prints and have our model do some amazing body shapes too! Prior to the shoot we had had some wonderful weather and gorgeous blue skies…… But of course, come the day of our shoot the heavens opened and it poured all day! But every cloud has a silver lining and the grey skies created a really strong moody look….. take a look at the pics, I think you’ll love them!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Who knows what the next couple of months will bring. But in this world of uncertainty it’s lovely to create these magical pictures. We shot them way back in the Summer in The Cotswolds and were lucky enough to have them published in Mini Maven this Christmas. The styling and inspiration came from a TV programme, ‘The White Horses’ I loved to watch as a child. Yes, I’m feeling positive – it’s difficult not to, when I work with so many gorgeous and talented people. So, bring on 2019!

Well, Valentine’s Day is nearly here. So I thought I’d do a very glamorous lingerie shoot to put us all in the mood. Being February it’s far too chilly just to wear JUST your bra and knickers so I thought I’d throw in a couple of fur coats (faux of course darlings!) for good measure! Happy Valentine LOVE BIRDS !

Although my roots are in Wales with my teenage years in Bristol, I now definitely feel like a Norf London Girl. So, it was great to do an urban shoot around the streets of Kentish Town. Fab photographer, Lesley Edith had just arrived back to the capital after living in LA for 8 years so she really enjoyed searching out all these great locations. I love all the hot pink clothes around just now and we opted for backgrounds that really made each outfit really pop! Amazing model Akira really made the pics with her strong beautiful look. All in all, a great success with Nude Magazine using the images for their latest issue. Talk about tickled pink!

BIRDS OF PREY

They say never work with animals or children – well, I always enjoy a challenge! We met early one rainy morning in November at Savernake Forest near Marlborough. I had already had a 2-hour journey, it was raining and quite honestly, I wasn’t feeling massively positive whilst waiting for the arrival of 3 child models under nine, plus a whole flock of birds of prey – owls, kestrels et al.
But I must say, once we got going everyone was marvellous. The kids were all so brave holding the birds, helped enormously by the amazing Dian from the Fir Tree Falconry and our lovely calming photographer Tara. Our make-up artist, Emily did a fabulous job painting a feathered look on each of the children’s face. I used loads of beautiful plumage in the styling with spectacular feather headdresses and capes. In the end, it was a soaring success with Little Revolution Magazine using all the pictures in their Christmas issue. What a great team – such high fliers!

LAVENDER DREAM

I had always wanted to do a shoot in a lavender field. So, when lovely photographer Tory Smith emailed me to say she’d found a great one in Hitchin I jumped at the opportunity! The team met at my house early one morning. I had a rail all ready, overflowing with gorgeous lilac and purple clothes. Model, Kitti tried on the various outfits and we picked our 6 favourites. Then make-up artist Sarah Mcllwain-Bates worked her magic creating a beautiful look. We all piled into my car and we whizzed up the A1 and spent the day shooting in the heavenly scented lavender fields. It was such a productive day – Tory did so many amazing shots and videographer, Ben Ramasami directed and then edited the fabulous film below. Take a look…….
